The Pokémon hype right now

In September 2026, “Pokémon hype” means one product: Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration. The set released worldwide on 16 September 2026, on the same day in every region. For the first time there is no gap in which Europe buys after the rest of the world.

Anyone asking what the hype is right now is asking about this set. The rest of the autumn hangs off it.

What is in the packs

Each booster pack contains five foil cards, including one of 30 different Pikachu illustrations, plus a foil Basic Energy. The Energy is foil too. The set sits in the Mega Evolution series, has over 150 cards, and brings a Classic Collection of older cards back alongside new illustration rares.

That is the attention: an anniversary set, every card foil, and a release every region sees on the same morning.

Three waves, not one drop

16 September is the loud wave. Stock keeps coming after that, and the later stock is the better entry.

September. The Elite Trainer Box, with nine booster packs and a full-art Nidorina promo. The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, sold through the Pokémon Center, with more packs than the standard box. Alongside those: the Poster Collection, Knock Out Collection, Binder Collection, 2-pack blister and the Pokémon ex boxes with Sylveon ex and Greninja ex.

October. The Booster Bundle with six packs, Mini Tins, and the Battle Decks led by Espeon ex and Umbreon ex.

November. The heavy formats. The Ditto Premium Collection, the Figure Collection with Mew and Mewtwo, and the Ultra-Premium Collection Day & Night: 29 booster packs plus one Classic Collection pack. That is the highest pack count among the announced products.

The September wave is when everyone is watching. October and November are when most of them have moved on.

Why this release behaves differently

Europe has often had days or weeks after other regions. Being awake here meant buying into a window that had already closed elsewhere, or the reverse. That gap is gone for 30th Celebration. Every allocation opens into the same attention.

What remains is what always remains: uneven quantities. Big chains get the stock and the crowd. Smaller retailers and other countries get less stock and fewer eyes. A shop in the Netherlands, Italy or Poland at retail price beats a German product page with three thousand people refreshing it.

What holds the price

Elite Trainer Boxes and the November collections. Collectors are more likely to leave them sealed. A box with accessories and an ultra-premium collection behave differently from a blister someone opens that evening.

Print run against demand. An anniversary pulls in buyers who would otherwise skip the set. The same attention pulls in reprints and late waves. Product still sitting at retail in November does not carry the September premium.

Condition. A dent in the Elite Trainer Box matters more than the cards inside it. Storage belongs in the calculation before the stock is standing in the hall.

The expensive moment

The expensive moment is the week the set is in every feed and marketplaces are asking double. Fees, payment and shipping regularly take ten to twenty percent of the sale price. A premium that looks like thirty percent is often ten after that, and the October wave is not out yet.

Buying at retail on a later wave or a quiet restock is the sum that works. Buying from a reseller at the peak is the sum in which you are the customer.
